The author kind of pulled a fast one on Father Amorth, who was kind enough to be interviewed at length; she portrays him as a naive reactionary. The aim is more about ridicule than understanding. Fans of ridiculing the Catholic Church will enjoy, otherwise probably not.

If I could give this book a no-star rating, I would. It is a book describing and dismissing work performed by exorcists in Italy.

The description of the book is misleading as 'Office' in this case refers to the Catholic rite of exorcism not an administrative department in the Vatican Curia.
Throughout, the author goes to great lenghts to prove how exorcism is an arcane practice fueled by superstition.

If you are looking for an unbiased, well-researched book about this very unique rite and its place in Christianity, this book is definitely not for you.
