Since the dawn of the human race, germs have been making us sick. "The Germ Code" is a wise, witty, and wonderfully readable guide to our relationship with these infinitesimal but infinitely powerful creatures. Microbiologist Jason Tetro takes us outside the lab and shows the enormous influence of germs upon humanity's past, present, and future. From his own research and personal experience, Tetro relates how the most recent flu pandemic happened, explains that not every germ is our foe, and offers advice on harnessing the power of good germs to stay healthy and make our planet a better place.

If you haven't already read this book then you just might have to, but there are a few things to consider before reading; first don't get hung up on reading the whole book cover to cover (right away at least). There's a great appendix in the back of the book with hot topics like vitamins, antioxidants, and much more! If your'e going to choose this book I would highly recommend it in small doses. There's a lot of information- medical terminology and may seem a bit overwhelming if your comfort zone lies outside the microbiological realm of this world.

Keep in mind that this is a simplified book, so I'd say it's like getting a summary for a textbook on the history and viability of germs in easy to read language.

Secondly, be prepared for the worst and the best information. It is a book about germs!

All in all, it's meant to be informative not to scare you. As mentioned earlier take it one topic at a time and if you really enjoy the book read it all- go all in!
