Identical triplets separated at birth. A "fact is stranger than fiction" documentary.

OMG!!! This is an amazing documentary. I did not know the full story before watching and as person with training as a clinical child psychologist, I was absolutely amazed at the breach of ethics depicted. The film begins as a benign, heartwarming story of the reunion of 3 identical triplets who were separated at birth and turns into a story of atrocity. ****** Spoiler alert!!!! We gradually learn that Jewish twins and triplets were separated at birth and placed by Louise Wise Services with families who already had an adopted child from this agency. Dr. Peter Neubauer, who escaped the holocaust, followed in the steps of Josef Mengele and his twin studies at Auschwitz. The children were then studied for many years concerning the issue of nature vs. nurture. This study by a "well respected" psychologist who trained with Anna Freud ( remember Sigmund fled to England to escape the Nazis ) would be an abomination regardless of the ethnic background of the children and families who were essentially lab rats. The fact that a Jewish adoption agency and a Jewish psychologist would dehumanize Jewish children and families with Nazi efficiency and disregard makes this story one of the most appalling stories of "psychological" research / torture. The study results were never published and are "sealed" at Yale until 2066. The Jewish Board of Family and Children's Services has blocked the survivors' access to their own information until the release of the documentary. Excellent documentary. Kristi & Abby Tabby

I really liked this documentary! Even though it does not provide direct answers to the questions it tries to address it certainly gives a lot to think about!

Plenty has already been written and this film should certainly be viewed for its fascinating though heartbreaking story. What I didn't appreciate was the filmmakers inserting speculation about nature vs. nurture, which in this biography is completely unnecessary, imho. Their compelling story is interesting enough without a foray into the scientific.

Highly recommended! Starts out as an amazing story and becomes much more. I don't want to ruin it for you (as some people may already have done), so you'll have to watch it. I think you'll agree by the end. This documentary has it all, and is not in the least bit dry or dragging.

The 2018 documentary, Three Identical Strangers follows the real life story of three men who at the age of nineteen discover they are identical triplets who were separated at birth. The documentary was very well done, being both suspenseful and yet intriguing as well. Continuously throughout the film, the viewer is left at the edge of their seat watching the mystery unfold in front of their eyes. The two main story points being the mystery of the brothers and the decisions made by the adoption agency they all came from. Though this film leaves a lot of unanswered questions, I would definitely recommend this documentary. 4 Stars. @Ruby_Tuesday of the Hamilton Public Library Teen Review Board

Riveting documentary that is at different times joyous and heart-wrenching.

a fascinating and disturbing documentary that raises more questions than answers. I loved reading about twin studies in college psych classes, wish I still had that textbook to look at it in a different light, wow.
