This is the story of a girl named Anna Bloom who was committed to a mental hospital by her parents for being depressed and overweight. There, she gets a roommate, sheds some pounds and meets a boy named Justin. The story is written as a series of letters to her best friend; Tracy. This book is one of my favourites and for good reason. Julie Halpern writes the characters and dialogue in a way that makes each one loveable and very easy to relate to. Halpern had also spent time in a psychiatric hospital herself so there are a lot of details someone else might not have written or thought of. Long story short, this is a book i would recommend to anyone interested in self-love, mental illness, romance and learning about all the struggles of being a teen stuck in a mental ward.
